FIREFIGHTING

When I’m on a fire dispatch, I feel 10 feet tall.

Everyone is relieved to see you—they look up to you. You’re there to save the day. Firefighting has given me immense purpose, knowing I’m making a real impact—protecting the environment, property, and lives while creating radical experiences with a team that becomes family.

I’ve been a Wildland Firefighter on a 20-person Type 2 Hand Crew for 10 seasons, with the last three leading as a Crew Boss. The job has shaped who I am. It has challenged me, pushed me to grow, and led to some of my proudest accomplishments.

I’m always looking to learn, improve, and take on new challenges. With a strong desire for stability and a way to support my family, my next goal is to join a fire department and serve a community through meaningful public service. I’m actively preparing to be the best candidate possible. Now that I’ve met the minimum qualifications (EMT, FCTC Written, and CPAT), I’m applying for positions while continuing my education in Fire Science and Rescue Technology at City College of San Francisco. My long-term goal is to obtain a Paramedic License.

Caleb on Fireline

What I bring to the table today is real-life experience, a strong work ethic, and a great attitude. I embrace both the highs and challenges of life and am fully committed to the process of becoming a full-time career structural firefighter.
